About Me

What if climate attitudes are about something else?

Hello! I’m Marthe

Sociologist, educator, communicator

My name is Marthe Elden Wilhelmsen, and I am a PhD research fellow at the University of Agder in Norway at the department of Global Development and Planning. My PhD thesis is called “What are we really talking about when we discuss climate policies? An ethnographic study in Southern Norway”.

My research focuses on different underlying values related to climate policies, especially for those who are skeptical of anthropogenic climate change and/or climate related policies. Trust, gender and justice perceptions are key words in my research.  My three-year fieldwork included unstructured individual interviews, conversations amongst the participants’ naturally occurring social groups, and ego centered social network analysis. I am excited to both share my insights from my research and engage in conversations with fellow curious individuals!

In addition, I research interactive methods for sustainable education

I have spent recent years exploring and refining the concept of sustainable imagination in educational settings. I explore the intersection of creativity, sociology, and education, offering a unique perspective on the development of sustainable imagination with my diverse background from theatre, education, and sociology. Always in pursuit of exciting teaching methodologies, I bring a passion for transformative learning to the forefront of my work.

How can we change the future, if we cannot imagine that future?
